Our story

Columbus Garage Door Repair & Installation

Anchor Garage Door was started by Marcus Webb after ten years as a field technician for a national garage door franchise. He was good at the technical work, but the job made him uncomfortable in one consistent way: the pricing model was built around hourly rates that kept climbing, and techs were incentivized to upsell parts the customer did not always need. In 2011, Marcus left, signed a lease on a commercial bay off Olentangy River Road, and opened Anchor on a single policy he had been unable to practice at his previous employer — you quote the job before you start it, and that number does not change.

The spring inventory came first, because springs are why most people call. Marcus stocked the full range: standard residential, commercial-grade, both winding types, a dozen wire diameters. When a call came in, he wanted to arrive already carrying what the door needed. That meant same-day service without the "we have to order the part" delay that he had seen frustrate customers for years. Columbus homeowners started noticing. By year two, over half of new calls were referrals. By year five, the company was running three service trucks and Tyson had joined straight from Columbus State.

Today Anchor employs four people who share Marcus's original constraint: the customer hears the price before a wrench touches the door. We explain what we found, why it matters, and what it costs. Torsion springs store enough energy to seriously injure someone who handles them incorrectly — we think customers deserve to understand the machine in their garage and the stakes involved. That is not a sales pitch; it is how professional tradespeople are supposed to work. Over 3,000 Columbus families trust us with theirs.

01 / What we stand for

What we believe

Quote Before We Touch It

You hear the price before any work starts. If the scope changes during the job, we stop and talk to you. There is no version of an Anchor visit where the invoice surprises you.

Flat-Rate Pricing

One number, written down, before the first part comes off the truck. No hourly clock, no surprise hardware charges, no add-ons after the fact. The quote is the bill.

Safety Is Not Optional

Torsion springs under tension are dangerous. We use the right tools, follow the correct winding procedure, and explain the mechanism to every customer — because an educated homeowner is a safer homeowner.

Columbus Roots, Columbus-Long

We have serviced garage doors from Clintonville to Grove City for 14 years. Most of our customers found us through a neighbor. That referral network is the only advertising we have ever needed.

Parts That Last

We stock 25,000-cycle springs and sealed steel-bearing rollers because the difference in longevity is real and the price difference is modest. Cheap hardware is a repeat service call in disguise.

02 / THE CREW

Licensed, certified, and straight with you

MW

Marcus Webb

Lead Technician & Owner

OH Contractor License #GD-61403, IDEA Certified, 14 yrs

Marcus started Anchor after a decade as a field tech for a national chain, where he learned that flat-rate pricing and honest parts recommendations were the exception, not the rule. He opened Anchor in 2011 on Olentangy River Road with two things: a full spring inventory and a policy of quoting before touching. Columbus homeowners noticed quickly, and the company has run entirely on referrals since year three.

DP

Devon Prater

Senior Technician — Openers & Automation

LiftMaster ProInstaller Certified, 9 yrs

Devon handles all opener installations, smart-home integrations, and the more complex electrical diagnostics on high-cycle commercial doors. He is factory-certified by LiftMaster and has connected over 600 openers to MyQ and Alexa setups across the Columbus metro. Customers in Grandview Heights and Upper Arlington frequently request Devon by name for remodel installs.

CS

Carrie Sutton

Dispatch & Customer Experience

Service Dispatch Coordinator, 8 yrs

Carrie manages the schedule, runs the 24/7 emergency line, and is usually the first person a customer talks to in a stressful situation. She is calm under pressure, has memorized the spring size guide, and knows which Columbus neighborhoods typically run Wayne Dalton track versus Clopay. Reviewers mention her by name almost as often as the techs.

TB

Tyson Brauer

Technician — Springs & Hardware

IDEA Apprentice Certified, 5 yrs

Tyson joined Anchor straight from his apprenticeship at Columbus State and has specialized in torsion spring work from day one. He has the math memorized: wire diameter, inside diameter, winding turns by door weight — the calculation that prevents the undersizing mistakes that get DIYers hurt. He is also the crew member most likely to explain exactly why the repair matters in terms the homeowner can repeat.

No pressure. No upsell. Just fixed.

One call. Door fixed.
